Solving your sensitive skin problems

I often get asked questions from customers via email, at trade shows, and at our new kiosk in the Avalon Mall in St. John's. I was speaking with a customer this morning and she has extremely sensitive skin. Like almost 70% of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, sensitive skin issues are a constant for people living here in Canada's easternmost province
Questions for Lisa:
What are the best ingredients for face and body sensitive skin? Which are your best sellers for sensitive skincare?

Excellent questions.... We get asked these 2 questions more than any others. Sensitive skin produces less sebum than combination or oily skin. When combined with dry or dehydrated skin from either environmental or genetic factors the problems that follow are extreme dryness, redness and irritation. Often in NL these skin conditions are combined with rosacea.

The main things  that need to be addressed are:
1 HYDRATE
2 REDUCTION IN INFLAMMATION

THE BEST INGREDIENTS FOR SENSITIVE SKIN ( in my opinion, and in our products are:

Blueberry Seed Oil and dried blueberries
Labrador Tea oil and extract
Seaweed extract
Blueberry extract
Seabuckthorn Oil
Organic Aloe
Partridgeberry Seed Oil
Bakeapple seed oil and dried bakeapples
Grapeseed Oil
Marshmellow Root
Canadian Beeswax

I am a professional spa expert and I was a teacher in the Aesthetics and Cosmetology industry for over 25 years in NL, in that time I had the opportunity to research, study and teach how to reduce sensitive skincare issues and provide solutions to calm sensitive skin.
In my experience I realized it is what is NOT in your products that makes the most difference in reducing immune reactions. Most people don't realize that fragrance and preservatives cause a lot of the sensitivity problems they are experiencing and most products are over 80% water they really don't stay on or absorb into the skin.
I am always adding to this list of
UNRECOMMENED SKINCARE Ingredients
Parabens
Fragrance ( Parfum
Phthalates
PEGS
SLS
Animal by products
Water pH 7

I believe that sensitive skin can be treated with beneficial ingredients from nature. We have incorporated many botanicals from our land and surrounding sea to reduce redness, increase hydration and maintain cool, calm clear skin, we do not use water in our formulas except for one where iceberg water is a treatment for hydration as it has a pH of 5 that is our Land and Sea Healing Mist.
Our top selling skincare products for sensitive skin are LABRADOR TEA NIGHT CREME, WHITE TEA CLEANSER, SEA VEGGIE FACE LOTION, SEABUCKTHORN SOAP, BLUEBERRY LIP TREATMENT, BLUEBERRY FACE MASQUE and Face Cream.
While almost all of our products are great for all skin types it is important to choose a simple system you will used morning and night. Don't complicate your routine with too many products. The smaller number of ingredients the less chance you will have a reaction.
Here is my recommendation for a starter set for younger sensitive, dry and dehydrated skin.
White Tea Cleanser
Sea Mineral Mist or Land and Sea Healing Mist
Sea Veggie Face Lotion or Blueberry Bliss Face Cream
Blueberry Face Masque ( use once a week )
For more mature skin or severely dry or dehydrated skin you can add a serum and or a night cream to increase the mositurization of the skin quickly and effectively while further reducing redness.
Emerald Serum or Botanical Serum
Labrador Tea Night Cream.
What are your favorite Indigena products for sensitive skin saviours?
