Recipe: Cleansing and detoxifying juice

I am taking extra special care the next couple of days to get in lots of detoxifying and cleansing foods. For me what I am eating and consuming has a direct reflection on my mind and my ability to focus. There are some specific foods that are very good for cleansing. Actually, you’ll probably notice that I use a lot of these ingredients in all of my juice recipes already. Here’s why… Cucumbers and celery are natural diuretics. Beets are great for liver cleansing. Lemons, ginger and apples aid in cleansing the entire body. Cranberries are good for cleansing the bladder. Greens nourish our cells and clean them at the same time. Dandelion greens are especially good for cleaning the liver. Today's juice was the perfect mix. Celery, beet, ginger, cucumber, and apple come together for a bright, fresh and cleansing juice. IMG_9383The benefits: The base is celery, which is a nutritional powerhouse. It’s loaded with potassium, folic acid, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus and essential amino acids. On top of all that, it’s one of the most alkalinizing foods you can consume. Beet is a powerful cleanser of the blood, and highly nutritious. It’s full of folate, manganese potassium, iron and Vitamin C. They also contain betalains, compounds that fight inflammation and support detoxifying by neutralizing toxins and making them easily flushed from the body. Ginger is energizing and it’s wonderful for improving your digestive system and detoxifying your body by moving the food through the intestines quicker. Ginger is also a natural antibiotic, an anti-inflammatory food and acts as an amazing decongestant. Cucumbers are excellent for detoxifying, as they are mostly water. They help with bloat and work to keep you hydrated with their many electrolytes. They also contain Vitamins A, C, and K and are high in calcium and potassium. Apples are rich in flavanoids and polyphenols, which are both strong antioxidants and can help detoxify the body of harmful substances. How do you detoxify and reset your body after the holidays?
XO Kimberley
