Pimples happen

Pimples. Ugh. We all deal with them and we all hate them. Very few individuals make it through life without at least a minor breakout of acne. I somehow managed to skip the teenage acne stage and I am very grateful for this, but that being said, as an an adult, I do get the occasional pimple every once in a while (read: about every 28 days or so). Honestly, I have never tried any acne medications or store bought treatments, I just use a few natural home remedies and the results are kind of amazing. tumblr_n9xutzBvmM1ts5jauo1_1280 Garlic – Garlic is an antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic and antioxidant agent that can help in the fast treatment of pimples. The sulfur in garlic also promotes quick healing of pimples. Why: full of antioxidants, great for killing the bacteria that causes acne and also great for reducing oily build-up. How: Crush a clove of garlic and mix it with a tablespoon of water in a small bowl or cup. Use a q-tip to apply the mixture directly to pimples. If you have sensitive skin, do a spot check first because it could burn. Leave it on or wash it off depending on your skin type. Aloe – Aloe vera is one of the popular and one of the oldest remedy for Acne. Why: improves collagen formation and can reduce the appearance of scars. How: Break or cut open a fresh piece of aloe and apply to pimples and acne scars to speed up the healing process. Peppermint oil – Peppermint is a powerful herb that can help eliminate pimples very fast. The calming, soothing effect of the menthol present in peppermint helps reduce the irritation and redness caused by pimples. Its antibacterial and antiviral properties also help kill bacteria that causes pimples. Why: soothes inflammation, decreases oil production and kills bacteria. How: Mix a few drops of peppermint oil with a few drops of water in a small bowl or cup. Apply directly to pimples using a q-tip. (Keep in mind that essential oils are very strong and shouldn't be used my pregnant women or children, especially on the face.) We'd love to know: Do you have natural at home remedies for fighting off those pesky pimples? xo Kimberley

Ha! So funny you blogged this! I have recently started to use Jojoba oil on my face! I use to get small little white heads through out the day- since I started putting this il on my face ( well a mixture of coconut oil and jojoba oil) they have all but disappeared! It’s only been a short time that I have been using this concoction so I will update in a month or so!

We love this! If you haven’t tried it before, drinking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar a day helps with acne a lot too! I know it doesn’t taste very good but it made a huge difference for me within a week and by two weeks my skin was completely clear!

All natural skin care is the way to go!
