Seaweed: the superfood for skin

IMG_9718 The idea of putting seaweed on your face might make you cringe a little at first but when you realize the benefits of this vitamin-rich skincare treatment, you will be singing its praises. Seaweed interacts with its environment in the ocean in a unique way; it naturally absorbs nourishment from the sea. It’s this resilience and restorative ability that make seaweed and marine extracts so valuable in skincare terms. After concentration and fermentation the sea kelp can become a powerful catalyst for skin renewal; it bathes the skin in moisture and calms sensitivities. Whether you’re blighted by acne, suffering hair loss or feeling sluggish, seaweed is your friend. It may be slimy, sludgey and lacking in the glamour stakes, but seaweed is packed with an unusually high concentration of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. Seaweed is a very beneficial skin care ingredient because it has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe and heal acne-prone skin. People who suffer from rosacea can also benefit from seaweed since it is full of B vitamins (B-1, B-2, B-3, B-6, B-12 and numerous other vitamins and minerals including A1, C, E, K, beta-carotene, calcium, folic acid, iodine, and niacin), which help to alleviate inflammation and redness. Additionally, seaweed is a natural detoxifier that helps bring out impurities and toxins in the skin and increases circulation. Whether you suffer from spots, sensitivity, rosacea or dry skin, seaweed can help. A small disclaimer: While seaweed treatments are highly beneficial for the skin, the “seaweed” smell can be a little unpleasant for some.  But believe me, the results of this product will make you forget all about the odor! xo Kimberley
